Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Is this dredge teaser ready to fish?
Yes. The complete system arrives fully rigged and ready to use. Simply connect it to your dredge line, add the appropriate trolling weight if required, and start fishing.
2. What fish species is it designed to attract?
It is designed for offshore game fishing, including marlin, tuna, mahi mahi, wahoo, sailfish and other pelagic predators that feed on large schools of baitfish.
3. What is the difference between the 270 Flash Fish and the 360 Flash Fish model?
The 270 Flash Fish model provides an excellent balance between attraction, drag and ease of handling. The 360 Flash Fish model creates a larger bait ball and is often preferred by larger boats, tournament anglers or crews targeting maximum underwater visibility.
4. Do I need to add dredge weight?
Yes. Most offshore anglers use approximately 2–5kg of trolling weight to keep the dredge below the surface and maintain a stable presentation.
5. What trolling speed works best?
For most offshore trolling situations, 5–9 knots provides the best balance of teaser action, stability and fish attraction.
6. What towing line should I use?
We recommend using 200–400lb abrasion-resistant monofilament or a dedicated dredge line. Heavy mono provides excellent strength while reducing wear on the dredge hardware.
7. Can I tow the dredge using stainless steel wire?
Thin stainless steel wire is generally not recommended because it can increase wear on pulleys and hardware. Heavy mono or purpose-built dredge line is the preferred option.
8. Why is the Bubble Head important?
The Bubble Head creates a continuous stream of bubbles that simulates an active bait school, increasing visibility and helping predators locate your teaser more easily.
9. Can I run two dredges at the same time?
Yes. Running one dredge on each side of the boat creates a wider bait school and is a popular setup among tournament crews and experienced offshore anglers.
10. Is a dredge boom recommended?
Yes. A dedicated dredge boom keeps the teaser away from your lure spread, improves presentation and makes deployment and retrieval easier, especially on larger offshore boats.
11. How should I clean and store the dredge?
After each trip, place the complete dredge into the included breathable mesh storage bag and rinse thoroughly with fresh water. Allow it to dry before long-term storage.
12. Can I replace teaser strips or rigging components?
Yes. Replacement teaser strips, flash fish and selected rigging components are available separately, allowing you to maintain the system without replacing the entire dredge.
